JCI: Greater Rochester
http://www.RocJC.org
Leadership Development through Community Action , the Jaycees (Junior Chamber of Commerce), founded in 1920, is comprised of individuals between the ages of 18-40 who want to develop their leadership skills through training, individual development, and community service. The Rochester Jaycees, chartered in 1984, is a 501(c)(4) not-for-profit, incorporated organization that helps people. Our work in 2004 & 2006 in the Greater Rochester area raised over $55,000 for cancer charities, brought aid to needy families, registered new voters, and sponsored a local sports team that encourages activity in children. Because we operate with an annually-elected board of directors, we have the flexibility to change projects based on the personal interests of current members and current needs of the community. We're also unique because there are Jaycees chapters all over New York State, the U.S., and the world. It's like a built-in group of friends everywhere you go. |
